Do any Republicans admire Barack Obama’s achievements?
An African American man with a very unusual name is raised by his mother with limited financial resources. He goes to Columbia undergrad and then Harvard Law School where he is the first African-American head of the law review. After working as an attorney and community activist, he is elected to the state senate and then the US Senate. He enters the presidential race and, against incredible odds, wins the nomination over Hillary. Does he deserve any credit for what he has accomplished?
Of course he does. Politics, however, requires that any candidate (and the supporters of each candidate) deny their opponent’s positive qualities and rage against every perceived or illusory weakness.
Except, of course, that Senator Obama has repeatedly acknowledged and praised Senator McCain’s military and political experience while criticizing his decisions, positions and judgment. Senator McCain, on the other hand, can’t seem to find anything even moderately nice to say about his opponent. Even his political campaign commercials are loaded with lies, cheap shots and innuendo – just before McCain comes on to say he approved of this message.
McCain and the Republican Party are desperate, and will never show admiration for anything about Senator Obama or the Democratic Party in general.
Oh, and about his Harvard Law School career:
