Women Financial Literacy
help with essay topic. Why should we advocate the need for increased financial literacy among women?

in general and specifically in South Africa

From a purely practical point of view, women outlive men, statistically. Therefore, women must be able to manage the finances in the absence of their spouse, etc. It is an unpleasant truth that many widows face a decreased standard of living once the husband dies as they lack the financial savvy to make sound decisions.

More broadly, money is power in this world and I for one do not understand why anyone would willingly abdicate it. Women need to step up and educate themselves financially if they are to be truly equal to men. It is not a luxury, or a maybe some day – it is an absolute necessity. Money is too important an issue to leave in the hands of someone else. Take responsibility for your own lives, sisters!
